Q: What is Intersecting Minds and what is its mission?

A: Intersecting Minds (IM) is a collective of scholars dedicated to exploring and expanding knowledge in the NeuroHumanities. At its core, Intersecting Minds is about exploration, collaboration, and connection, serving as a hub for those interested in delving into the intersections between neuroscience and the humanities.

Our mission is threefold: 1) to build a collaborative, reflexive, inclusive space and community to examine emerging and pressing topics in the NeuroHumanities and consciousness studies, 2) to provide educational resources and initiatives to enable a flexible and public-facing dialogue about NeuroHumanities across varying sectors and disciplines, and 3) to bring together scholars and community members to engage in scholarship and initiatives in the NeuroHumanities.


Q: How can I participate in or join Intersecting Minds?

A: You can send our site curators an email, ask us a query on our site, or fill out our interest form. If you are interested in contributing to any of our many initiatives, fill out this form to let us know how you’d like to contribute.


Q: Do I need to have a background in neuroscience or humanities to participate?

A: No, we welcome everyone who is interested! Our community thrives on the diverse perspectives brought by each member. If you do possess expertise in either field, however, we encourage you to share your insights and experience.

A: Intersecting Minds aims to blend diverse perspectives from neuroscience, humanities, and beyond to foster a multidisciplinary understanding of consciousness and the human experience. Our approach is unique in its commitment to inclusivity, encouraging contributions from a wide range of disciplines and backgrounds.

A: Not at the moment. This is something we are interested in exploring further. While we currently do not offer direct support for research projects, we are exploring possibilities like facilitating research collaborations, providing platforms for project presentations, and offering guidance on grant applications. Our goal is to become a hub for nurturing and promoting innovative research in NeuroHumanities.

A:  We’re thrilled you’re interested in contributing to Intersecting Minds! There are lots of ways to get involved. Here are several to consider:

  • You could volunteer to help us enrich the resources on our website (writing informational pieces, curating content, etc).
  • You could propose a book review, a review of a recent publication, a personal essay, or an analytical piece on a relevant topic for our website or blog.
  • You could help us with activity planning. We’re looking for creative minds to help us develop our activity/event docket. This involves brainstorming and organizing for future events, workshops, and discussions that resonate with our mission.
  • Engage in and share relevant research projects or propose new ones.
  • If you have expertise in a relevant area, consider hosting a talk or workshop. This is a great way to share knowledge, connect with others in the field, and engage in professional development.
